Collision of tangles

I’m sliding later and later in the week with my challenge tiles. I really like doing it earlier in the week and then watching as others’ entries come in, but I never ever peek before I do mine as the power of suggestion from the awesome work other CZTs and tanglers do is too strong. Because I’ve been so focused on my Whole30 (day 25! woot!), I have spent more time prepping healthy meals and lunches than drawing, but that should balance out once I transition to a more paleo-focused diet without quite as many restrictions as the first 30 days. For the record, I’ve definitely lost weight, though I can’t step on a scale until the full 30 days are over, but more importantly, I feel FANTASTIC. No more 3pm energy slump, no more living on Diet Pepsi (no more consuming it. ever.), no more feeling generally sluggish and a little sick. If you want to follow my journey on that, check out my other blog, Raw and Random, but also be prepared for random awesomeness between Whole30/Paleo updates. Here’s my post from today–Day 25 and only 6 days until reintroduction!

So this week’s I Am the Diva challenge is a duotangle (“tile or ZIA that is created using ONLY TWO TANGLES and their tangleations.”) using Dex and Bunzo (one of my favorites). If this is Greek to you, you haven’t delved much into the Zentangle world, and that’s totally okay with me. Just enjoy for what you see.

This one took me a few tries. I tried using Dex as a ribbon inside Bunzo, but if I tried to align the lines between the bands, it ended up with some reallllllly stretched out cubes and it just didn’t look right. If I didn’t align the lines, it was almost difficult to look at without going cross-eyed. So I revised my idea and went with a collision course between the two, with elements from each side breaking apart into smaller bits into the other. It ended up a little crooked, but overall I like the outcome.

What do you think (other than the fact that I should’ve waited until I had better light to take the picture)?

I encourage and appreciate sharing!:

I love the little pop-out squares nestled in the Bunzo squares!

You sound like you have been very busy making life-style changes. I am hoping to work on gluten-free too. It is a real commitment isn’t it? I did give up sodas and caffeine recently and that in and of itself has made me more clear minded. Those sweeteners are hard on the brain. Love your work, it really sparkles with your shading. Clever how the dex has been mingling with the bunzo.

Hi Carri, My tile followed similar lines to yours and for similar reasons. I think the end result here is great. I don’t feel it’s crooked, just doing what the patterns do. Nice tile.

I really like your collision course between these two! I think you have a very unique take on the duotangle and I love the way that Bunzo and Dex are running amuck into each other. Nicely done!
